you know what? it's getting worse every day.

when they introduced video ads, it caused YouTube to come one step closer to television.
it wasn't much of a problem, because they always played at the beginning and you could skip them after a while.
but then, unskippable ads began to arrive. now that was real hell. the first time I found one of them, I was truly confused when I wasn't able to find the "Skip Ad" button. you know what I did? closed the page. yeah. and just reopened it and the ad was gone.

the Flash-based video player and the mobile app got riddled with plenty of video ads, that it wasn't simply worth using it anymore. disabled my Flash player (plus it had severe reliability problems such as being unable to pause or seek), uninstalled the app... except that sometimes the HTML5 player would crash and the freaking Explorer popped up the fallback Flash player. and guess what? ad.

however, eventually the HTML5 player would get ads too, and despite being rare back in 2014, it was a bad sign.

I remember once upon a time there was this 90-second-long unskippable ad!!!!! and that pretty much made me say "screw it, I'm using mpv".

but the worst of them all, are the halfway ads.
why in the world would you interrupt the video I'm watching and all of a sudden replace it by an ad?! that's as poor as those annoying pop-up ads from the 2000's!
it's like if I were to watch a VHS tape, and then what? at some strategic point the player stops, and suddenly it plays an ad?!
or better yet, imagine if you were driving through the highway. then at some point an advertising wall pops up from the floor and your car crashes on it. then what? you end up with a broken car, only because their greediness causes them to put up a randomly-raising ad wall!

and the worst of all is that it is about stuff that is so unimportant that I would rather do nothing for no reason than have to withstand this!

what if it was a music video? YOU DUMB CRAP I merely was enjoying some good music, and you stop the fun?! it's clear you are total evil!!! (which is (was?) very ironic because your former motto was "Don't be evil")
do you really enjoy messing with us THIS much?! that's unbelievably sadistic!
but people don't leave the service because they know the other ones are unable to stand up against you and your massive userbase:

• Vimeo is pretty much for Decent Video. which is an entry barrier for people like AVGN.
• Dailymotion is owned by the company who also owns Universal. and what does Universal release? often, crap. oh, plus the amount of erotic clickbait is insane! I come across a Dailymotion video, and then, what's on the list? a freaking cut-out nude or sexual title that makes you wanna go "oh hey, I wanna see" and get you out of what you actually asked for.
• Niconico is Japan-only. enough said. why does Japan have to be so exclusive? plus, why do they always have to get the better stuff?!

yeah, I know I could just buy a Red/Premium subscription, but then you lose privacy. not only it means handing Google your personal information, but also means telling them exactly what you're gonna watch, at account level! I never use my account for watching videos, because that way they'll associate the videos I watch with my account, as mentioned before.

I have not posted on this website for some time, mostly due to being too busy with too many problems I have lately, but enough of this bullcrap! say no to interrupting ads, and say yes to ad freedom!
